SUMMARY
The success of most public services ultimately depends on the behavior of individuals. Many
policies, programs, and services, however, aren't designed to account for lessons from behavioral
science, i.e., how we really think and behave. Research from behavioral science demonstrates
that seemingly trivial aspects of any initiative, such as the design of a registration form, how choices are
presented on such a form, the timing of outreach and deadline for action, can have an outsized
influence on what we decide or do. In this workshop, we’ll discuss what behavioral
science is, learn about a checklist to improve outcomes with policies and communications, and
rules of thumb for how to interpret survey research.
This training session will be available in-person only (not accessible, virtually) and open for public observation. No policy or projects-related decision-making will occur. Nothing in this agenda shall be construed as Board action. This training session is solely for the educational benefit of the MKSOA members and staff. All activities taking place during this training are for the purpose of cultivating understandings of human behavior and conceptual frameworks.
